Nostalgic cover band rocks Carlisle

Writer: James HadleyJames Hadley

Mostaligia, A band that certainly lives up to their name. People of a certain age (like myself) who grew up listening/watching to Kerrang and Scuzz in the 2000s this was a big slice of fantastic nostalgia. Although plenty of these songs still get airtime today it hits differently when these songs are put into a setlist and played live.

Opening the night were Preston based band, Vices. Playing their own brand of alternative music this trio manages to balance heavy riffs and drums overlayed with melodic vocals. This however doesn't mean it is all just clean vocals, the shouted vocals punch through to give a varied finish to their songs. Finishing up with a cover of Omen by the Prodigy was a nice end to their set.

Kicking off with a bonified classic for the era, Chop Suey and then straight into Bodies by Drowning Pool Moshtalgia waste no time getting into it. The band play an excellent mix of pop punk, emo, rock and a couple of metal songs dropped in for good measure, I was not expecting Laid to Rest by Lamb of God to make an appearance. Working their way through a mammoth 25 song set, this 5 piece look like they are having just as much fun as the crowd. You feel a real connection to the band as they love the music as much as everyone in the venue and would be in the pit with you if they were not on stage. The crowd was raging from the go, growing rowdier and louder with each song. Break Stuff and Duality were the pinnacle of mayhem with some of the biggest mosh pits I have seen at the Brickyard. When all is said and done if you want to relive a classic era of music from the 2000's get yourself down and get a ticket. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Mostalgia, you brought me back to places that I didn't think I needed to go.
