Its a mild evening for the start of November which the already large que forming is probably glad of. Doors open and and the barrier is already full, this a great early turn out to a sell out show.
Kicking things of this evening is Barrow based band, Groblin and the Ballastics. This foursome set the tone for the night with their crushing modern metal to a venue that is filling up quite quickly for the opening act. The Barrow lads seem to be having just as much fun as the crowd with the bassist flying around the stage like a man possessed. This is the perfect opening band to fired you up after a long tiring week with pummelling double base that you could feel through your feet, shoegaze undertones from the guitar and the right amount of melody interspersed throughout the songs give an enjoyable listen.
Next up is Carlisle's very own Eversio and the sonic assault doesn't let up. The intensity is building as the night goes on getting heavier and more raging. The kids on the barrier will have some sore necks in the morning. It is very clear where Eversio takes their inspiration from with a heavy feel of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal from Pantera, Lamb of God and Killwsitch Engage. These five musicians layer groove upon groove and are as tight of a unit as you could ask for, watch this space!
Time for the main event. If you just walked into this place and didn't know who was playing it would take long to figure it out. Most people were dressed up last night for Halloween but there are plenty of people continuing tonight with jumps suits and masks a plenty. The raucousness of the crowd has intensified even more with the anticipation of the North East Nine. Last time they played the Brickyard back in October 2022 they tore the place apart and tonight is no different. After a slightly long set up, Slipknowt rip into their set consisting of the classic 'knot' era. The first four Slipknot albums, Slipknot, Iowa, Vol. 3 (Subliminal Verses) and All Hope Is Gone get plenty of songs pulled from them during their 90 minute set, each song getting a bigger reception than the last. The crowd is absolutely rabid with the mosh pit going for the whole of the set. The band never let up matching the intensity from the crowd. Slipknowt barrel their way through a whopping 21 song set barely stopping to catch their breath. This is a band that feels like seasoned performers who are musically tight and channel the pain and anger from the original band. Even the vocals are spot on sounding scarily like Corey Taylor him self. I have a feeling we wont have to wait another two years before this 18 legged behemoth returns to our city.
