About Me

Hi, I'm James. I'm a photographer, but I guess you know that by being here on my website.

Born and raised in Cumbria. Around the age of 20 I left to explore the world, ending up settling in the French Alps for 12 years. After spending most of my 20's up a Mountain I returned back to Cumbria and settled in Carlisle, where I now live with my family.

Music has always been a massive part of my life. Living on top of a mountain there are not many opportunities to see touring bands so on my return to the UK I threw myself into getting out and going to as many gigs as I could. I started taking pictures on my phone to create a gig gallery of all the bands I had seen and I suddenly had a lightbulb moment, why don't I grab a camera and do it properly. This is where my photography journey started. I began with shooting local bands and local shows around Cumbria, slowly moving up to larger show and working with a couple of publications and getting my work published.

Whatever I set out to do I always look to improve and immerse myself in learning. This is no different with my photography, always looking to push myself and try new things. This is where I started with weddings. A totally different type of shooting that I was used to from dark clubs and venues to bright ceremonies and receptions. This is what I love about being a photographer, no job is the same, every wedding and event is different from the people to the conditions and the challenges to overcome. It fills me with such pride to deliver and encapsulate everything a client expects of me.
